A push in live betting occurs when the final result lands exactly on the live line you bet, resulting in your stake being returned rather than winning or losing.
How Pushes Happen Live
Live spread and total bets push the same way pre-game bets do. If you bet an in-game spread of -2 and the team wins by exactly 2, it's a push.
Half-point live lines (-2.5, +3.5) are designed to eliminate pushes — exactly as in pre-game betting.
Live Betting Push Scenarios
Live spread push:
- You bet trailing team +7 at halftime
- Game ends with the favorite winning by exactly 7
- Push — stake returned
Live total push:
- You bet over 31.5 in a game with a live total of 32 (at halftime)
- Final score 32 total points
- No push possible with .5 number
Why Pushes Are Rare in Live Betting
Books almost always use half-point live lines to prevent pushes. Whole-number live lines are less common. When they do appear (usually in live half-time lines), push risk is real.
Impact on Live Parlay Bets
If a live parlay leg pushes, that leg is typically removed from the parlay and the remaining legs continue. A 3-team parlay becomes a 2-team parlay if one leg pushes.
