A teaser lets you move the point spread (or total) in your favor in exchange for lower odds. The most common NFL teaser moves each line by 6 points.
Standard NFL 6-Point Teaser
- Normal line: Chiefs -7.5, Bengals +2.5
- After 6-point teaser: Chiefs -1.5, Bengals +8.5
You've made it much easier for each leg to cover. But the payout drops significantly.
The Math on 2-Team 6-Point Teasers
Standard teaser odds: -110 per two-team, 6-point teaser (varies by book).
To break even on a 2-team teaser at -110, each leg needs to win ~72.4% of the time. Teasers on key numbers (crossing 3 and 7 in NFL) can reach that threshold — the "Wong teaser" strategy.
The "Wong Teaser" Principle
A 6-point teaser is most valuable when it crosses 3 and 7 — the most common NFL margins of victory. Example:
- Moving a -8.5 favorite to -2.5 (crosses both 3 and 7)
- Moving a +1.5 underdog to +7.5 (crosses both 3 and 7)
These specific line movements generate positive expected value at standard teaser odds.
What Doesn't Work
- NBA teasers: Too much variance, different scoring patterns
- Large parlays (3+ teams): Variance grows faster than value
